Safety Speaker Drebinger’s eBook Support Page

Thank you for purchasing one of my eBooks. Below is a quick lesson on digital eBooks and eReaders. This will teach you how to read and get the most out of the files you just downloaded or about to download. Following the lesson are links to articles which explain the details of how to install your book on your specific eReader device.

Step One: You must have a device or APP to read the files you received.

If you don’t have an eReader you can install an APP on your phone or tablet or computer. If you would like to read the book on your computer and would prefer not to install a Kindle or other APP you can use the PDF file you were sent and read the book using Adobe Reader. You can upload Adobe Reader if you don’t have it on your computer. Go to: https://get.adobe.com/reader/

Here are your most common eReader options.

Kindle – Device or App on your tablet, phone, laptop or desktop computer. (Uses .mobi file)

iBooks – App on your iPad or iPhone, Apple laptop or desktop computer. (Uses .ePub file)

Nook – Barnes and Noble’s device or App on your tablet, phone laptop or desktop computer (Uses .ePub file)

Adobe Reader – Adobe Reader is free software you can install on your laptop or desktop computer. Most business computers already have this program as it is what you use to read a PDF file.

Other Devices – As with most technology today there are new devices and APPS available all the time. Simply search in Google for the how to instructions on your latest devices.

Step Two: Load the eBook on your device or computer

Kindle – Amazon sells various Kindle devices all of which can open and store the .mobi file you received. If you own a Tablet device such as an iPad or Android device you can download the Kindle APP for that device. When you set up the Kindle APP and connect it to your Amazon account a device email will be generated. (Sample: bob2318@kindle.com) By emailing the .mobi to that Kindle email address from the computer you downloaded the file to you will be able to open and save that book on that device. You will have to email it to each tablet or phone you are using the Kindle APP on if you want to read it on those devices. For detailed instructions on this and links to each step go to: http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/email

iPad or Android Device – In this case you email the .ePub file to yourself. You must receive email on that device. You open the email and in the case of the iPad you click on the attached file and it will ask you if you wish to open in iBooks. You answer yes and the file opens there. For Android devices check out the information at: http://joyofandroid.com/how-to-open-epub-files-on-android/

How to  transfer files to your NOOK
You can connect your NOOK to a computer (using the NOOK Tablet microUSB cable) to transfer personal files. Your NOOK will appear on your computer as a removable drive. Just click on the file on your computer and copy it (drag-and-drop) to the appropriate NOOK folder.

Loading books on the nook is SUPER easy. Just plug it into your computer and it’ll show the folders of your nook like a flash drive. Pick out the folder My Documents and just drop the files in there. Once you are done, just eject the nook (by clicking the little icon on the task bar of your computer.) Go to your library on the nook and to My Documents and you should see them there – after the nook scans for new media.

Note: ePub file is the one to use on the Nook
