Where Can You Find Creative People?
Last week, I mentioned the United flight attendant with the great
way to get people to read the exit briefing card. I asked him
how he came up with the idea or if he got it from someone
else. He said he just came up with it on his own. My point is
that we are surrounded by creative people everywhere. These
people include those you work with who know their job and know
the problems they and those around them face every day.
We don't always think of them as being creative
as their job descriptions may not require that skill. The
key is to realize and discover the creativity of the people with
whom you work. Many safety teams and work crews have creative
thinkers who have the ability to come up with humorous ideas and
effective solutions as if they were some of Hollywood's most
gifted writers. The point is to utilize your people, involve
them, and expect great things from them. Also, sometimes someone
who isn't comfortable making presentations may have great ideas
for a meeting format, etc. Let people know they can participate
behind the scenes.
So the answer is, "You can find creative people everywhere!"
Discover the creativity in your team and your own mind.
Speaking of creativity, Nathan, our outstanding webmaster, has
creatively placed portions of my new video demo on our website.
Just go to www.drebinger.com and click on the phrase, Click here
to see John in Action! You can share it with your committee and
if you have a date for a presentation coming up give Diane
Weiss a call at 1-800-588-9419. She can send you a full copy
of the demo on DVD.
Where in the world is John Drebinger? With over 55,000 miles
flown so far this year, he's hard to catch but here are some
cities you might see him in during the next few weeks or months.
Call our office for details if you want to catch him in person.
Look for him in San Antonio, Texas; Corpus Christi, Texas;
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Seattle, Washington;
Idaho Falls, Idaho; Orlando, Florida; and Lynchburg, Virginia.
Call Diane and she can see if you can drop in on one of these
private meetings to experience John in person.
Yours in Service,
John Drebinger
SPECIAL ASSE ANNOUNCEMENT
Only FIVE short weeks to this year's ASSE PDC in Seattle. Drop by
our booth in the exhibit hall and say hello to Diane, Sandie,
Emmalee, Nathan, and myself. You can see how my health and
fitness adventure is coming. As you know, Diane handles all
my marketing and arranges presentations, Sandie is my Dynamic
Presentations Institute Director and she also edits all my
written work. Emmalee is a new member of the team and she helps
out at my Institute and at the trade shows we attend. Nathan is
the one who ships out your products and keeps our web site up to
date.
I will be speaking on Tuesday, June 13th, from 3:15pm to 4:15pm.
Session Number 629 - Elements of Effective Presentations,
Motivation and Communication Skills for Safety Leaders.
I will be using material from my presentation, Safety for Leaders,
and will discuss how leaders reinforce their message or
undermine it by other comments or actions. It will, as always, include new
material and I will be performing a new magic illusion that will
mystify you as much as it did me the first time I saw it. Please
get there early as the room usually fills up. As a courtesy to
the speaker following my presentation, I will be able to visit
and sign books, or answer questions outside the presentation
room afterward. The PDC committee has done a great job bringing you the
most you can fit into one day so logistics are critical. If you
aren't staying for the next presentation you can help by exiting
quickly to make room for the next audience.
P.S.
HEY VETERAN BUMPER STICKER UPDATE!
MAGNETIC BUMPER STICKERS NOW AVAILABLE ($5.99each)
If you missed one of my last few issues please read the
following.
Some of my long-time readers remember that I
have for years had a personal project where I call three
veterans I know each and every Veteran's Day and thank them for
their service to our country and for providing my freedom.
After all, if it weren't for them we would certainly be living
under the tyranny of some other country less committed to
freedom than we are as a people.
As a result of this project, I came up with an idea. I wondered
how we could continue to thank veterans and support our troops
long after they returned home. The solution is a bumper sticker
that reads,
"Hey Veteran, Thanks For My Freedom".
I think when the idea catches on, veterans of years past and
today's brave soldiers will realize how much we appreciate them
every time they see a car drive by with one in place. If you
would like to join me in thanking our veterans for their service
and, quite frankly, our freedom, please order one and put it on
each of your vehicles. You may even want to buy a few to give
to the veterans you know at work.
They are red, white, and blue and are 11.5" x 3" in size,
printed on vinyl. The cost is only $2.99 each and we pay the
shipping. The magnetic version is $5.99 each and free shipping.
Go to http://www.thanksvet.com and get yours now.
Twenty-five percent of the
profits from this project will be donated to veterans' service
organizations. For an update of how much has been donated,
a special page on our web site will be updated with our results .
Join us in thanking every veteran in this country!
Go to http://www.thanksvet.com and order several bumper
stickers for your cars, your friends, and as a gift to any
veterans you know.
We would appreciate it if you cut and pasted this notice into an
email you could send to your personal mailing list. If you need
any information you can contact us at office@thanksvet.com We
are however only set up to take online orders unless you need
quantities over 100.
Thanks for your help spreading the thanks across this wonderful
country of ours to the men and women who make it possible.
When you forward this to your friends would you please cc me so
I can track how far the idea is spreading and what level of
response we are getting.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS ISSUE TO A FRIEND
