Welcome to the Fourth Year of This Report

The volume number four above reminds me this is the beginning of
the fourth year I have been writing this report. I want to take
a moment to thank those of you who have written notes to me over
the previous three years. It is always nice to hear from you and
I love answering your questions. As you know, if you are a long
time subscriber I did a survey asking you how often you would
like to receive these reports. The vote was for bi-weekly. I
have tried that format and discovered that I was writing much
less than that over the year. It seems that my creative forces
respond to the need or regularity of a weekly report. So I would
appreciate the indulgence of those who prefer a few less emails
as I am going back to the weekly (most of the time) format. If
this is too many for you please feel free to skip a few.

Please Note: In a couple of days you will receive a special
edition of my report that will list the outline and rough agenda
for this year's Institute. It will also cover all the details.
If you want to find out what I have to offer please read it.
If not, skip it and I will write a new message for you in a week.

Never Give Up - Be Flexible - Keep Working On Success

It is amazing to me how often events in our lives lend
themselves to teaching principles. As you may know, I have been
working on achieving a healthy weight over the past year. I
appreciate the supportive emails and phone calls many of you
have made during that time. I discovered in this quest the same
phenomenon many of you have found with your incident rate.
That is a plateau, or wall you come up against and can't seem to
go beyond. So what do you do? Give up and settle for what you
have achieved? For me the answer is, you never give up. The
solution is to continue to try different techniques, skills or
actions until you achieve the results you need. In my case, I
tried several different eating programs to see if they would
make a difference. No luck. So did I give up? No! I decided it
was time to hire a trainer and begin a more vigorous exercise
program. So far, so good. While in Baton Rouge for a series of
safety kickoffs, I purchased a guest membership for the week so I
wouldn't have to take a break from what I started at the gym I
work out at near home. By the way, I did have a complete physical
prior to starting and I am working with a trainer so that I will
avoid injuries which might cause an interruption in my program.
So the journey continues and I am looking forward to moving past
my previous success.

So what have you done differently to break through your current
safety performance record? If you have hit a plateau, first it is
good to celebrate your success to that point. That celebration
or gratitude for the success you have made helps overcome
frustration and makes it possible to focus on new methods or
techniques. Call an associate in the safety business and ask
them what they are doing. Try some of their techniques that you
haven't used yet. Check for results and keep moving ahead. One
thing I know is that there is little in this world that is
impossible if we set our mind to accomplish it.

How good are you at taking everyday events and making them
teaching stories to convey a safety idea or principle? The
reality is that no matter how good you are at developing
teaching stories you can always improve. Perhaps now is the time
to enlist my help in teaching you how to make your stories hit
home with an impact that will get results. Logistics make it
difficult to coach each one of you on an individual basis so I
developed a once a year opportunity where we could meet and
build your safety presentation skills. Among these skills is
story creation and story telling. In just a few weeks on
March 9th, 10th and 11th I will be holding my Dynamic
Presentations Institute for 2005. For three days you can learn
more skills and techniques than you ever have before. This will
increase your effectiveness many fold. For more information, call
my Institute Director, Sandie Gilbert,
Toll Free at: 1-866-373-2464 or 209-747-2770.
Don't miss out! If you would prefer you could
reply to this email with your phone number and we will call you
back and email you the updated information.

Please Note: In a couple of days, you will receive a special
edition of my report that will list the outline and rough agenda
for this year's Institute. It will also cover all the details.
If you want to find out what I have to offer, please read it.
If not, skip it and I will write a new message for you in a week.
Keep Working Safe.

John Drebinger
