Thank you to all who have written or talked to me in person about how you have been able to use the information in this newsletter to help improve your communication skills. This week, I am writing a special edition to share with you one more time something I am excited and passionate about, Presentation Skills. That's right, skills, not talent. Talent is something you were born with; skills are something you can learn and put to use. Also, because I value your trust and your time, today's edition is to tell you about an event I am holding and would love to have you attend. I hate newsletters that bury you with advertisements and then make you search down for the article. This week, I ask your indulgence. If what I have shared with you in the past has been useful to you, I would appreciate a few moments of your time to read this issue. I just want to share with you what I will be presenting at this special event and ask you to consider attending.
For those of you who have heard me speak at conferences on the subject of "Mastering Safety Communication", you need to know that this event covers entirely different material in a very unique format. We begin at 7:30am in the morning on Wednesday, October 6th. For three days, I will share with you every technique I use to get my message across. I will let you in on the secrets and concepts behind what I do and what other effective presenters do. I have been holding this event for the past three years and this year's is going to be the best. It will also be the last time I do this for awhile. We will definitely not be holding this event in 2005. Participants in the previous three years have given me feedback which has allowed me to make significant improvements.
Someone at a safety conference told me they have never missed my presentations at ASSE, the National Safety Council or VPPPA, and asked me why they should attend. My answer was this:
When I speak at a conference or during my full day communication course there is only enough time to scratch the surface. These three days allow you to be immersed in the material and gain skills with understanding. When you leave, you will be able to put into action the skills you learned. You won't have to read more about them or study further, you will be ready to use them immediately. Each and every time you do a presentation after attending, you will use more and more of the techniques and discover a greater impact and results. This event has a smaller attendance than many of John's workshops. We typically have twenty-five to thirty-five participants. This allows John to work with you individually and make sure your needs are met. You even gain information during breaks and meals. At breakfast, we discuss what you learned the day before. At lunch, you will network with your fellow attendees, working on exercises and concepts you learned in the morning. This goes on for three full days from 8am to 5pm.
So, please consider joining me October 6th, 7th and 8th for my Dynamic Safety Meetings Institute. It is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The investment is $1997 for the first attendee from your company and only $1197 for additional attendees. For more information call Sandie Gilbert Toll Free at: 866-373-2464 or 209-747-9645. You can go to our website at the following address for more written information including hotel prices, etc. http://www.drebinger.com/page/page26.html
If you are thinking about starting your own safety business, training, speaking, and consulting you would be wise to invest your time to attend. One of my protégés has taken his speaking career to new heights and increased his fee 700% since we met. I have the business experience and knowledge that can help you whether you work for a major corporation or for yourself.
In addition to teaching the skills, a few select individuals will have the opportunity to practice and be critiqued by me and the group. If you don't like being in front a group, rest assured you do not have to take part in this exercise.
We will all be going as a group (at no additional cost to you or your company) to a special event on Thursday evening. I guarantee you even this extra time will teach you enough to make your trip worthwhile. Please contact us in the next two days as we may run out of tickets for this special evening and it will be first come first serve.
We have made a decision to make this year's Dynamic Safety Meetings Institute the last one for a while. The earliest we may choose to hold it again would be in 2006 so if you are sitting on the fence deciding whether or not to attend I have to wonder why you are sitting on a fence looking at your computer. But seriously, now is the time to take advantage of this opportunity.
What if you have a schedule conflict? Cancel whatever else you have planned! I'm not kidding! I guarantee you it will be worth it to you, your employees, your company, and even your family. Speaking of guarantees, if, by lunch on the second day you do not believe what I am teaching is useful to you just let one of my staff know and we will write you a refund check on the spot. Be aware though that no one has ever asked!
I look forward to seeing you in October.
Yours in service,
John Drebinger
P.S.
Diane Weiss, my Marketing Director, is always nervous that someone might think the purpose of the Institute is to train safety professionals to do presentations so they don't have to hire me or other professional speakers in the future. No Way! The difference is that I teach you how to make your weekly and monthly safety presentations more effective. The reason you bring me to your company is to bring a message that has been developed and honed over fourteen years to create the greatest impact at a special event such as a safety kickoff, quarterly safety meeting, or safety celebration. Also, as an outside presenter, I bring validation to what you and your corporate leadership have been saying for years. Even Jesus said, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country." If a speaker who was good enough for his messages to be heard had this problem, why should you expect otherwise. Bringing in outside speakers and experts will always have value.
So give Diane a call and let her know when you want me to come speak at your facility. She can be reached at 800-588-9419.
Yours in service,
John Drebinger
